Warming up to Weerama 2009

Ted's Camera Store Photographic Competition

A photographic competition has been organized to show case the beautiful City of Wyndham.
Involving the Wyndham Secondary Colleges and all adult photographers.
Photographers will be encouraged to shoot images of the Wyndham Landscapes.
The Werribee River, Lollypop Creek, Historical Buildings, Horticulture, Birds and Animals - domestic or wildlife.
Photographs must be taken in Wyndham and during the last 12 months.

VicUrban Recycled Art Project

The Weerama Festival and VicUrban are developing a local environmental sustainability statement for the City of Wyndham.
In partnership Weerama and VicUrban are planning a unique and educational recycled art prevention program and will be inviting all Wyndham Colleges to get involved. Students will collect recycled items such as plastics, laces, ribbons, newspapers, egg cartons, used batteries, chain fencing, boxes, drink cans, feathers and all kinds of litter to create art work, sculptures and sustainable houses.
Great prizes will be on offer to the winning school in each category.

Weerama Sustainable Gardening Awards

The Weerama Sustainable Gardens Award aims to recognize resident's efforts, however humble, towards achieving sustainability in the garden and neighborhood.
This is a great chance to share ideas and achievements within the City of Wyndham.

There are three Sustainable Garden Award Categories -
1. Courtyard/Small,
2. House Garden,
3. Commercial/Industrial.

Great Prizes will be awarded.

Weerama 2009 Activity Details for Thursday 26th March

Children's School Concerts

Thursday 26th March
Primary School Children will jump, shout and sing to the movements and songs from one of the service bands. Professional music shows combining educational themes with fun learning.

A limited number of tickets may be available to residents, bookings will be essential, tickets are free.

Children's Picnic

Friday 27th March
Weerama's very special day just for the Kids.
Manor lakes will become a wonderland of fun and entertainment with rides, jumping castles, pony rides, clowns, magicians, ballooners, face painting, storytelling and lots of special character shows.

SES Weerama Quiz Night

Friday 27th March - 7:30pm
Who wants to be a millionaire when you can have this much fun and win fantastic prizes? The SES Weerama Quiz Night is one of the most popular events of Weerama. Join the SES in a fun and laughter-filled night, testing your trivia knowledge. Make up a team or grab your partner and join in the fun with lots of prizes on offer.

Due to licensing restrictions food and beverages cannot be brought into the club, but can be purchased at the venue.

Come along and help support the Werribee SES.

Wyndham Rotary Fun Run

Saturday 28th March
9.00am to 12.00pm
Take the First Steps to the Wyndham Rotary River Fun Run to be held on Saturday 28 March, 2009 at 9am.
Walk or run 3km, 8km or the NEW 15km course around the scenic Werribee River in Werribee. The course is ideal for first time runners, avid walkers or experienced runners seeking a new challenge!
Have a great time participating in a fun community event, while raising vital funds for the Royal Children's Good Friday Appeal.
You can enter as an individual, with friends and family or perhaps enter a corporate team.
It promises to be a fun filled day with something for everyone including giveaways, special guests and lots more!

Family Time - Rock and Roll in Station place

Station place will come alive at the family concerts. Families will enjoy all the rhythm, fun and excitement of the Rock and Roll Bands and Dancers as they play all the top music for the adventurous who wish to dance.

AUSTRALIAS HOTTEST KISS TRIBUTE
Wyndham you want the best...we are bringing you the best...

This show is so accurate musically and theatrically it even drew praise from KISS great Paul Stanley and his ROCKSTAR Band on a recent tour. Bruce Kutick gave the show the two thumbs up and seal of authenticity. The band has also been heralded in Impress for their great ability to not only recreate the sounds and emulate the mannerism of KISS, but to also recreate the experience.

Torchlight Procession

Saturday 28th March - 8:00 pm
Fun & excitement by torchlight as we salute our volunteer fire-fighters, pipe and brass bands as they march down Watton Street to Chirnside Oval.
The torches used in the procession symbolize the strength, unity and courage of the CFA volunteer fire fighters

This is a very special event so don't miss out

"Lets Play" In Wyndham Street Parade

This is one of the feature events of the Weerama Festival, so line the street to see and enjoy Wyndham Residents on display. Led by local students holding the Weerama Banners aloft, the magnificent RAAF Central Band, Citizen of the Year, Weerama Committee and volunteers proudly marching down Watton Street

Watch for the colourful multicultural groups, community floats, street performers, local schools, roving entertainers, emergency vehicles and all the walking groups.

Enjoy the dancing schools as they strut their stuff to the stirring sounds of brass and pipe bands all taking part in an exciting celebration of life in "The World of Wyndham"
